People say that my energy and enthusiasm for helping people be the best they can be is evident as soon as you meet me. Which is fabulous as I truly believe that an organisation is only successful when it has the right people with the right skills, attitudes and behaviours at every level. When I help individuals and teams to achieve their potential they become more energised because they believe in themselves, start enjoying what they’re doing and stretch themselves to go the extra mile.
The culture of an organisation is extremely important to me – whatever you see happening on the inside of an organisation will most certainly be replicated for your external customers, so I feel that time and energy spent on getting it right is key. It’s one of my favourite workshops to facilitate – a couple of days with the senior team to define what they really want their company to represent to their people and customers.
My career has had many strands to date – with the one common thread of working with people. While in Financial Services for over 19 years, I led operational areas as well as Business Excellence which included Learning and Development, Culture, Internal Communications, Recognition and Corporate Social Responsibility. A role I really loved as it pulled some key elements of the culture together! I’ve used my experiences throughout my life to understand what makes people tick and tried to use my knowledge to help people become more resourceful and resilient in achieving what they want with passion and drive.
I’ve always been obsessed with attitudes and behaviours and I now focus on this more and more whether it is to develop leadership, manage change or increase customer service skills. I love what I do and think learning should be fun; when you’re having fun, you push yourself out of your normal comfort zone which provides you with more opportunities for self development. Laughter also stimulates and increases your capacity to retain information!
