Be clear in your goals

Be clear in your goals

Quote on faded background. Opportunity is missed by most people because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Don’t you find that when the picture of what you want to achieve is fuzzy, it makes it hard to get started and find the opportunities to make it happen? Yet when you have clarity in your goal and what good looks like, opportunities pop up all over the place?

This quote, often attributed to Thomas Edison, suggests that many people fail to recognise opportunities because they come disguised as hard work. We then focus on them being ‘have to do’ rather than ‘want to do’ tasks.

In my work, many people overlook opportunities because they’re deterred by the effort involved usually because they’re unsure whether they really want to pursue that route.

But when you have clarity, even when success and opportunities are not always immediately obvious or easy to achieve, you’ll be more likely to persevere, put in the hard work, and tackle the challenges head-on because you know it’ll take you closer to your end goal.

Do you have clarity in your focus this year?

If not, do whatever works for you to create a vivid picture of what good looks like. You may want to make a vision board, or write an affirmation…

Whatever it is, do it. Because as soon as you do, your mind will be on the look out for the opportunities to make it happen!
