F is for Failure

F is for Failure

In my continuing alphabet I’ve chosen F for failure because so many people let the fear of failure get in the way of them even starting to work towards their dreams and goals never mind achieve them. Yet, when I ask people if they walked as soon as they found their feet or were able to ride a bicycle the first time they got in the saddle, some look at me as if I’m from a different planet.

When things go wrong we often experience some of greatest learning points. From this, we are able to dust ourselves off and start again tweaking our style or technique to make sure we’re better next time. Think of Dyson and his vacuum cleaner or Edison with the lightbulb, they weren’t overnight successes. When it didn’t work first time, it was the learning that motivated both inventors to overcome these challenges and go on to achieve greater things.

So, don’t let the fear of failure get in the way of your success. Think about the challenges you have had in the past and what you have learnt from them that have made you more resilient today and then put them to work to help you move forward tomorrow.
