Turning learning into action: How practice and feedback embed real change

We live in a world rich with information. We hear podcasts, watch webinars, read articles and yet, something’s missing…
This ancient proverb reminds us that learning isn’t complete until it’s lived.
We don’t want our learning to be passive and stop at awareness because we know what it’s like to come out of a workshop knowing what we should do, but having never practiced it. And this is where we can fall down because our intention and our impact can be so different.
When we look at the proverb, it’s a bit like the steps on a learning ladder.
– Not hearing something falls short because we haven’t had the exposure.
– Heard can be forgotten or misunderstood.
– Seen can have action that inspires, but still doesn’t build skill.
– Knowing is still a bit abstract, but at least it’s being internalised.
– Practiced (lived and repeated) helps it to become a habit.
I suppose the one part that’s missing for me is the reflective piece. Practice without feedback doesn’t encourage continual improvement.
And that’s why, in the learning we create, we like to make sure we bring into play all rungs of the ladder using real dilemmas but concentrate on the last rung. We help you to spend time on honing the practice and receiving feedback. Because that’s where the transformation takes place and the learning becomes truly embedded.
When people practice what they learn:
✅ Values become visible in behaviour, and they become authentic in their delivery.
✅ Teams build trust through consistency, not just intention.
✅ Things aren’t put off. People have courage and positive regard to help themselves and others be their best version.
✅ Wisdom spreads through example, not just instruction
If your team is ready to move beyond knowing into doing, to turn values into visible behaviours and learning into lasting culture, I’d love to help.
