Feel the fear and do it anyway

I’ve perhaps worn one around friends, but as I’ve matured and widened, the inner critic has been rife telling me my body isn’t bikini ready.
So, picture this…
The sun was shining, the waves were gently crashing onto the rocks, and there was me, strutting my stuff in a fabulous new bikini in Tenerife last week!!!
I decided to embrace every curve, every jiggle, and every inch of my ageing self!!
Why the sudden change, you might ask?
Well, I suppose it started with the realisation that life is too short to spend time worrying about why I can’t wear a bikini when I love having a brown tummy.
I’ve had so many beliefs over the years of the type of people who could wear a bikini. Long-limbed, flat-tummied, sporty people…
No more! I’ve thrown caution to the wind!
And do you know what? Nobody cared about what I was doing because they were all going about living their own lives.
No one was judging me or my body… and if they were, I’ll probably never see them again after this holiday!!😜
There were times when I became a little self-conscious, but I reminded myself of David Foster Wallace’s quote, ‘You will become way less concerned with what other people think when you realise how seldom they do!’
So, for the last week, I wasn’t just wearing my new bikini – I was owning it!
I was swimming in the pool, and soaking up the sun with a big, unapologetic smile on my face. My body is a testament to my life’s journey, and every stretch mark and dimple tells a story of strength, resilience, and joy.
Do you worry about what others might think rather than getting on with the task in hand?
If so, find one small step you can take today to move in the direction of feeling more liberated?
As Susan Jeffers said, ‘Let’s feel the fear and do it anyway!’
